This cosy self-catering guesthouse, located directly on the beautiful Elbe-Lübeck Canal, has a total of only three rooms with a shared lounge. All rooms have been renovated. The common lounge with a kitchen also has its own covered terrace.
There is a covered storage area for bicycles, where e-bikes can also be charged.
We invite you to a small simple breakfast consisting of homemade rolls, jam, honey and Nutella, coffee and tea. Pension zur Schleuse is otherwise geared towards self-catering. In the common lounge there is a kitchen, where each guest prepares his own breakfast. In the village of Witzeeze, a baker's cart selling fresh baked goods in the morning can be found in the parking lot on the main road. In Büchen (about 3 KM away) there are other bakeries with breakfast offers and also rich shopping facilities and all common supermarkets are available.
The guesthouse "An der Schleuse" is located directly on the Elbe-Lübeck Canal, where the Alte Salzstraße cycle path also runs. The Old Salt Road cycle path leads from Lüneburg to Lübeck on the trail of the historic salt trade route. It connects the two Hanseatic cities and is 115 kilometres long. The Elbe-Lübeck Canal unites the Elbe near Lauenburg with the Trave in Lübeck over a length of around 60 kilometres. The canal, which was opened in 1900, is the connecting route between the Elbe and the Baltic Sea. Today, the Elbe-Lübeck Canal is used by smaller inland vessels to transport bulk goods and for pleasure boats.
Witzeeze is an idyllically situated community in the countryside with a lot of nature in the form of cultivated landscape, forests and natural gravel lakes as well as a historically grown village centre. Due to the structural change in agriculture, the original farming village has developed into a cosy residential area with optimal transport connections to the metropolises of Hamburg, Lübeck or Lüneburg.
